Guiding Our Children Home
How to Sooth the Family Nervous System

‘The autonomic nervous system is the common denominator in the human family’ — Deb Dana

In this workshop, Clare Beckell and George Rose will explore the concept of the family nervous system: how our nervous systems are interlinked, affecting not only ourselves but those around us. The workshop is rooted in polyvagal theory and traditional reflexology and the Five Elements theory, which explains how our nervous systems constantly scan for danger, and how we can experience connection when we feel secure.

The workshop is both theoretical and practical, with mindfulness based exercises being employed to give participants a direct experience of what it is to feel safe in their nervous system, and practical reflexology to support soothing our own nervous system and the nervous systems of our children. With that established, participants will then look at forming connection with others in a way that assists them in finding that same sense of safety.

The workshop is aimed at parents and adults working with children and young people.

Wednesday 21st of January, 7-8.30pm, at St Werburgh’s Community Centre, Horley Rd, BS2 9TJ
