Deep State Consciousness

Guiding our Children Home - Bristol
‘The autonomic nervous system is the common denominator in the human family’ — Deb Dana
In this workshop, Clare Beckell and George Rose will explore the concept of the family nervous system: how our nervous systems are interlinked, affecting not only ourselves but those around us. The workshop is rooted in polyvagal theory and traditional Chinese medicine, which explains how our nervous systems constantly scan for danger, and how we can experience connection when we feel secure.
Wednesday 21st of January, 7-8.30pm, at St Werburgh’s Community Centre, Bristol

In the Light of Death - Online Course
'Death is not the extinguishing of the light, but the blowing out of the candle because the dawn has come.' Rabindranath Tagore
This twelve week course, facilitated by Richard Cox, is based upon Tim Freke’s 2002 book, In the Light of Death: Spiritual Insight to Help You Live with Death and Bereavement. It is intended to introduce participants to the variety of ways spirituality speaks to death, drawing on both timeless philosophical wisdom and modern scientific research. There is a strong emphasis on facilitating participants coming into their own authentic connection with mortality. It is the cultivation of this authenticity that provides the strongest foundation to reach out and support others.
Coming February 2026. See here for more details.

Turiya Meditation (तुरीय) - Bristol
‘The bliss of deep sleep is a free sample of the awareness enjoyed by the mystics when they are awake.' — Rumi
The Hindu Upanishads describe the Self as having four states of consciousness: The fourth state, Turiya, refers to something distinctly uncommon: being awake during deep sleep. In this workshop we will meditatively explore the accessibility of such a seemingly lofty state of consciousness, seeing that it is perhaps not so far from our grasp. We will look at the potential this inner state of being holds for both our own sense of peace and stability, as well as for connection to others.
Saturday the 7th of February, 10am till 1pm, at the Wild Goose Space, Bristol

Awakening through the Family Mirror - Book Launch in Bristol
‘Peace isn’t waiting in the future. It is already here, waiting for the moment you stop abandoning yourself.’ - Jo Ashworth
For decades, Jo Ashworth lived a life shaped by toxic family dynamics. She grew up learning that love meant subjugating herself to the will of others. Once established in childhood, this belief played out time after time in her adult relationships.
Suffering led to a spiritual journey: of non-dual wisdom and altered states of consciousness — through which Jo came to see her family dynamic as a mirror. When she embraced the courage to look, she found her way home to herself.
Saturday the 7th of February, 2 till 5pm, at the Wild Goose Space, Bristol

In Search of the Secure Base - Bristol
‘I regard the desire to be loved and cared for as being an integral part of human nature throughout adult life.’ - John Bowlby
‘Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside.’ - Sri Ramana Maharshi
In this workshop, Clare Beckell and Richard Cox will explore how the contrasting approaches of Attachment Theory & Nodual Spirituality may be integrated into a seamless whole. Supportive attachments with other people facilitate us to look within, whilst abiding in the depths of our being allows for greater connection with others. To embrace both poles, is, therefore, to create a virtuous circle.
